Oman Introduces Free 14-Day Tourist Visa to Boost Global Tourism: The Sultanate of Oman has announced a new free 14-day tourist visa for eligible international visitors, marking another major step in its strategy to strengthen tourism and position the country as one of the Middle East’s most attractive travel destinations.
The decision follows amendments to certain provisions of the Executive Regulations of the Foreigners’ Residence Law and was officially published in the Sultanate’s Official Gazette on August 2, 2026.
Under the new regulations, the complimentary tourist visa will be issued by the competent Omani authorities upon application to nationals of designated eligible countries. The initiative is expected to make short-term leisure travel more accessible while encouraging more international visitors to explore Oman’s diverse cultural, historical, and natural attractions.
An added benefit of the new policy is the flexibility it offers travelers. Visitors entering Oman under the free 14-day visa may extend their stay by applying for another category of tourist visa before the expiry of the complimentary visa, provided they meet the applicable requirements and pay the prescribed fees.
Strengthening Tourism Growth
The visa initiative forms part of Oman’s broader efforts to diversify its economy through tourism and attract visitors seeking authentic Arabian experiences.

One of the country’s biggest seasonal attractions is Salalah’s Khareef season, which transforms the Dhofar Governorate into a lush green paradise during the summer monsoon months, offering a striking contrast to the hot, arid climate experienced across much of the Gulf.
The 2026 Khareef season began on June 21 and will continue until September 21, drawing thousands of regional and international tourists eager to enjoy cooler temperatures, mist-covered mountains, waterfalls, and vibrant landscapes.
Salalah Festival Offers 125 Events
Visitors traveling during the Khareef season can also enjoy an extensive calendar of cultural and entertainment activities.
According to Dhofar Municipality, this year’s programme features 125 events, including cultural performances, artistic exhibitions, sporting competitions, family entertainment, and heritage celebrations. Tourists can also explore Salalah’s famous beaches, waterfalls, natural springs, caves, and sinkholes, making the region one of the Middle East’s premier summer destinations.
With the introduction of the free 14-day tourist visa and continued investment in tourism infrastructure and visitor experiences, Oman is reinforcing its ambition to become a leading destination for leisure, adventure, eco-tourism, and cultural travel in the region.
